What forms do I need to complete before boarding?

New clients need to complete our New Client Form, Medical Release Form, and Boarding Contract. These forms must be updated annually. Forms are available on our website and may be emailed to kennel@tracohio.com or brought with you at check-in.

What are your boarding check-in and check-out times?

Check-in and check-out are available Monday through Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM and 4:00-6:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00-11:00 AM, and Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM. We do not offer arrivals or departures on holidays.

What vaccinations and health requirements are needed for boarding?

For the health and safety of all our guests, pets must meet the following requirements before their stay:

  • Dogs: Current Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP or DHLPP) vaccinations, along with a recent negative fecal test.
  • Cats: Current Rabies and FVRCP (feline distemper) vaccinations.

Please provide current vaccination and testing records prior to check-in. If your pet receives veterinary care at Creekside Animal Clinic, we can access their records directly.

What if my pet cannot receive a required vaccine for medical reasons?

We understand that some pets may be unable to receive certain vaccines for medical reasons. If your pet cannot receive a required vaccine, we will need a letter from your veterinarian stating that your pet is medically unable to receive the vaccine. Please provide this documentation prior to your pet’s stay.

What if my pet has special needs?

If your pet has any medical, mobility, behavioral, feeding, or other special needs, please contact us before making your reservation to discuss any accommodations they may need. This helps our team determine how we can best accommodate your pet and prepare for their stay.

What do I need to bring for my pet’s stay?

We provide stainless steel water and food bowls, slow feeders, blankets, and beds. To ensure your pet has the most comfortable stay, you are welcome to bring:

  • One or two blankets
  • One bed that fits within the dimensions of your pet’s accommodations
  • 2-3 favorite toys
  • Medications, vitamins, and supplements in their original labeled containers
  • Food and treats
  • Slow feeder, if your pet uses one

Prepackaging and labeling your pet’s food by date and feeding time (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) is greatly appreciated and helps our team keep meals organized throughout their stay.

Do you board cats?

Yes! The Retreat welcomes both dogs and cats. Our feline guests have their own accommodations designed to provide a comfortable environment away from the activity of our canine guests.

Can you give my pet medications while they are boarding?

Yes. Our team can administer many routine medications during your pet’s stay. Please bring all medications, vitamins, and supplements in their original labeled containers with clear administration instructions. Medication administration fees apply.

Can you care for pets that require insulin?

Yes. We can accommodate diabetic pets requiring insulin. Because these pets require additional care, please discuss your pet’s needs with our team when making your reservation. Additional fees apply.

How often will my dog be walked, and will they interact with other dogs?

Dogs are walked four times each day as part of their regular routine:

  • 6:30 AM – Morning walk
  • 11:00 AM – Midday walk
  • 3:00 PM – Afternoon walk
  • 8:00 PM – Evening walk

Dogs from the same family may be walked together. For the safety of all our guests, dogs from different families are not permitted to interact with one another. Walk times may vary slightly based on the individual needs of our guests and the daily routine at The Retreat.

Can pets from the same family stay together?

Yes. Pets from the same family may be able to stay together depending on the type of pets, their individual needs, and the accommodations required. Please contact our team before making your reservation to discuss the best arrangement for your pets.

Can I check on my pet during their stay?

Absolutely! We know you miss them while you’re away. Feel free to contact The Retreat during regular business hours for an update. Our team will be happy to let you know how your pet is doing.

What additional services are available during my pet’s stay?

We offer additional services to make your pet’s stay more enjoyable, including Cuddle Time and other available amenities. Ask our team about current options when making your reservation.

How do I make, change, or cancel a reservation?

Contact The Retreat directly to make a reservation or request changes to an existing stay. Reservations are subject to availability. If your plans change, please contact us as soon as possible so we can update your reservation.

What if my pet develops diarrhea during their stay?

It is not uncommon for pets to experience diarrhea during boarding due to changes in routine or the excitement of being away from home. If your pet develops diarrhea during their stay, we will start a probiotic to help support their digestive health and continue to monitor them closely.

If your pet develops additional symptoms or we have concerns about their health, we will contact you or your designated emergency contact and coordinate veterinary care when needed.

What happens if my pet becomes sick while boarding?

If we have a medical concern during your pet’s stay, we will contact you or your designated emergency contact. When veterinary care is needed, our team can coordinate care with Creekside Animal Clinic during regular business hours. If urgent or emergency care is needed outside of those hours, your pet may be referred for emergency veterinary care.
